lift off

This piece is a part of series that rehabilitated my art pursuits. At the end of 2003 I was mostly dead of spirit. I had completed the recording of two albums of music that ended a three year long project. This was also the end result of a 17 year long journey to become a songwriter/recording artist. When I was done, I mostly drank, wrote short stories and became increasingly bitter. Nothing filled the music void. I didn't care about music and I was showing signs of not caring about much of anything. My visual art was suffering as well. I hadn't made anything in Photoshop worth mentioning in a long while. My PC was crashing a lot and pissing me off so I bought a souped up laptop. Laying down that much scratch freaked me out and really motivated me. That, combined with using a whole new operating system got my creative juices flowing again. That new computer (read new work studio) got me really excited about creating again. In the beginning of 2004 I exhaled out a large amount of work in a short period of time while riding around on CalTrain. This piece was the very beginning of that time.
